iPad Unlimited Data Plan “It’s between you and ATT”

Emails From Steve Jobs reader Dennis Wurster decided to send a quick email to Steve Jobs about this whole iPad Unlimited Data Plan issue.  From Steve’s response it sounds like Apple is trying to distance itself from any carrier and data plan related issues…  Makes sense to me since in future they will probably offer service through other providers like Verizon who will have their own data plan offerings.

Hello Steve,

I hope this message finds you well.

Just got my iPad+3G this week. Fantastic product! I’m very pleased with it.

I am, however, a bit frustrated by the changes AT&T made with respect to their data plan offerings. It seems that now the ability to have the unlimited data plan that was touted at iPad’s announcement in January is now incompatible with the ability to activate/deactivate the data plan at will.

To be clear, I do qualify for the unlimited plan, and have called AT&T to make sure that the option will be available to me. What I would like is the ability to *retain* that plan should I choose to reactivate later on. That’s the value proposition I was offered, and that’s what I would like to accept.

What is your opinion on this issue?

Thank you,

–Dennis

Steve’s response a few hours later:

It’s between you and ATT.

I don’t believe this is real. The iPhone auto-corrects “att” to AT&T, and I don’t think Mr. Jobs would have uncorrected it given the briefness of his email.

It does not correct if you type ATT (all in upper case).

Regardless, Steve Jobs’ answer was right on!
