Steve Jobs on Meizu: ‘They stole our ideas and intellectual property’
According to a post on meizume.com forum, user Eliot sent an email to Steve Jobs asking him about Apple’s action to ask for freeze of sales of Meizu M8 phone.
I have heard that you are taking action against the Chinese electronics manufacture Meizu and you have successfully managed to stop the manufacture of the Meizu M8. I would like to know why your company has decided to take action against Meizu when there are many phones out there which are designed to be clones of your iPhone. I am quite fond of the Meizu M8 and your iPhone, i own an M8 and an iPhone 3GS but i do not see many purposely placed similarities on the M8.
Jobs used one of his one sentence reply to respond.
Because they stole our ideas and intellectual property.
The Meizu M8 is a touch-controlled, multimedia and internet-enabled smartphone. It is popularly regarded as a Chinese iPhone-like phone due to its similarity to the features, UI, and physical design of the Apple iPhone. The M8 runs a version of Microsoft Windows CE 6 with a modified GUI, similar to that of the iPhone.
